Philharmonic Orchestra of the Superior School of Music and Dance of Monterrey
Our history
La Super is the Philharmonic Orchestra made up of graduates and teachers from the prestigious Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey; with the participation of advanced students who carry out their professional practices.
Directed by Maestro Abdiel Vázquez, La Súper was born as an initiative of the Board of ESMDM, A.C.
La Súper had a historic debut in 2021 in the Plaza de los Héroes in Monterrey, within the framework of the Santa Lucía International Festival, paying homage to Pablo Moncayo and other great Mexican composers and musicians with more than 4,000 attendees.
In the first semester of 2022, La Súper performed at the San Pedro Auditorium with three concerts celebrating Beethoven, in which the orchestra performed several of the best-known symphonies and concerts of the famous musician.

In September, the orchestra accompanied Javier Camarena “The best tenor on the planet” at the Arena Monterrey, in a concert that included classical opera pieces, popular songs, as well as Mexican music, Gershwin and Ortíz.
In October, and to close the year, La Súper performed at the Esplanade de los Héroes with its concert “El Nuevo Mundo”, a tribute to the music of the American continent, with pieces by composers such as Dvořák, Gershwin and Ortíz.
This year the orchestra opened its 2023 season at the City Theater, sharing the stage with an icon of international opera, Elīna Garanča, who is considered by many to be the best mezzo-soprano in the world, in a critically acclaimed concert.
In its most recent presentation, Noche de 2, the orchestra paid tribute to 2 great composers: Brahms and Rachmaninoff, counting for the first time with a soloist
invited, Eduardo de la Vega, a young talent, graduated from the ESMDM, to interpret the concerto for piano and orchestra No.2 of the great Russian musician.
